There were some spectacular feats of riding in the finale of the GASGAS Winter Trial Trophy, held on the ground floor of the pit lane building at the Red Bull Ring. The garages, where Formula 1 teams work on their cars and MotoGP contestants mount up ahead of a race, were configured as an indoor circuit for trial bikes during the winter months.
Over the course of three rounds, riders aimed to find perfect balance and maximum body control on two wheels. The competition entrants demonstrated impressive ability, mastering the obstacles with great skill and, as befits the Red Bull Ring, at high speeds.
A tense final day
Points were awarded for the placings over the three days and the ultimate outcome was decided in a real nail-biter. Despite coming a modest fourth on the final day, Maurice Egger scored a total of 61 points from the three races and clinched the Winter Trial Trophy by the narrowest of margins – just a single point. Second place overall went to Norbert Berger, who also chalked up the second-highest points total on the final day. Joining them on the podium in third place overall was Dominik Rehberger.
The Red Bull Ring would like to congratulate all participants and trophy winners of this year’s GASGAS Winter Trial Trophy.
