MotoGP Morning News: Key information for Friday

We will be updating you every morning in the build-up to the MotoGP weekend.

Action stations on the race track

The on-track action starts as early as half past eight in the morning (08:30) when the world’s fastest racing e-motorbikes emerge from the pit lane. MotoE practice will be followed by free practice for Moto3. Among the riders in this category is Austria’s very own Jakob Rosenthaler. The 18-year-old from Linz has been handed one of the highly coveted wildcards and will be competing for the Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP Team.

If you want to see the Moto3 practice session live, you should arrive in good time. The best way to get to the circuit is by bus, train or bike; it’s quick, convenient and saves frazzled nerves. The car parks open at 07:00 and are within walking distance of the Red Bull Ring.

The premier class of motorbike racing flexes its muscles from 10:45 onwards. Jack Miller, Marc Marquez and the other MotoGP aces will have 45 minutes to perfect their setup for the Red Bull Ring. The 4.3-kilometre circuit makes heavy demands in terms of tyres and brakes. At 15:00, things will get much more serious in MotoGP Practice, as the Top Ten from this session will go straight through to Q2.

Music that rocks

From 18:45 onwards, first Alexander Eder and then Granada will be stoking up the atmosphere. The neo-Austropop band from the Steiermark region will also be performing the national anthem ‘Land der Berge’ (Land of Mountains) on the start-finish straight in their own inimitable folksy style. And, as you would expect, their trademark accordion will play a prominent role.
